“Follow Our Traditional Cultivation & Have Healthy Lifestyle”
Carrots are a cool-season crop that is harvested in the spring. They’re high in vitamin A and lend a splash of color to a dish. They can be eaten fresh or cooked. Because the sugar that makes a carrot sweet tends to be replaced by fiber as it ages in the grocery store, this beloved vegetable has a natural sweetness—especially the freshly cultivated carrot.
How to Grow Carrot:
Growing carrots in pots allow you to create your own ideal growing medium while also avoiding pests like carrot fly. Carrots should be planted in rows 1 to 2 feet (31-61 cm) apart. Seeds should be planted 1 to 2 inches (2.5-5 cm) apart and 12 inches (1 cm) deep.
Climate Requirements:
Carrot can be grown throughout the year at an elevation above 1500 meters with assured irrigation. At elevations between 1000 – 1500 meters, it can be grown from July – to February.
Fertilizer Requirement:
About two weeks after the carrot tops emerge, supplementary feeding will be required. Organic Compost of sufficient quality would suffice. Because they are grown for their roots, avoid using nitrogen fertilizer, which is mostly used to promote foliage growth.
Pest:
The carrot rust fly is the most common insect that damages carrots. 1 It lays its eggs near the carrot top in the soil. When the eggs hatch, the larvae dig their way into the earth and then into the roots of the carrot, where they feed and construct tunnels. Carrot weevils can do the same thing.
Water Requirement:
Every week, water your carrots with at least one inch of water. Mulching helps to preserve water while also keeping the soil cool.
